Jesus is your Deliverer
- Jesus came to save and heal, but He also came to destroy the works of the devil (1John 3:8)
- What is bounding you? (Luke 13:10-16)
You can be a child of the King but still have things that God needs to set free in your life.
- What does Jesus need to clean from you temple? (John 2:13; 1 Cor. 6:18-19)
The enemies of God’s People
- The feud begins: Revelation 12:17; 20:7-10; Eph 6:12
- Satan’s Army organized by rank
Lucifer (son of the morning- Is 14:12-21; Ezekiel 28:1-19)
Satan has limitations:
1. Not omniscient: can’t read out thoughts.
2. Not omnipotent: his power is limited
3. Not omnipresent: can’t be anywhere at once (1 Peter 5:8)
4. He is a very powerful spiritual being, far more powerful than any of us by ourselves. (2 Kings 19:35)
5. It we submit to God, Satan can be resisted, and then he will leave (James 4:7).
Principality: Daniel 10:10-21- princes in the demonic world who control regions.
Powers:
Rulers: Spiritual forces of evil
- There is an unseen world that influences our world.
What does it mean to have a demon?
“Too often people refer to people with demons as being demon possessed. In actuality they are “demonized”. In other words, they have a demon. They are not owned by that demon, but the demon has strong ground in their lives and can take over at times.”
Demonic influence in our lives:
1. Bondages (Luke 13:16)
- chains or ties that the enemy puts on us that will not allow us to advance in our
Christian life.
- pride, self-sufficiency and a religious spirit are Satan’s weapon to keep people
in bondage.
2. Strongholds (2 Cor 10-4-5)
- usually a wrong pattern of thinking or unrepentant thought that blocks the heart from seeing the truth.
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” ( Luke 4:18-19)
Two main ways that Satan gain entrance into the believer’s life:
Illegal Intrusion
Legal intrusion (Eph 4:27; Rom 6)
How does a person become dominated/oppressed by a demon?
A. Sin - willful and continual disobedience to God
(John 8:33-36; Romans 6:15-19; 8:5-8)
Ex. Idolatry (Deut 27:15, Ex 20:4-5)
Dishonoring parents (Eph 6:1-2, Eph 6:13, Prov. 20:20)
Illicit sexual relationships (1 Cor. 6:9)
Injustice to the handicapped and the lame (Deut 27:17-19)
To trust of put confidence on the flesh (Jer. 17:5, Rom 3:20)
To steal, perjury and false witness
(Zech 5:1-4; Mal 3:8; Deut 11:26)
Spoken curses on the servants of God (Heb 13:17,Deut 11:26)
Unforgiveness and bitterness (Matt 18:23-35)
Judgmental or critical spirit (Matt 7:1-5)
B. Emotional wounds (and our response of unforgiveness, bitterness, revenge, etc(Heb 2:15)
C. Generational curses(Ex 20;5; 2 Samuel 21)
D. Self-imposed curses
E. Occult: Acts 19:19 Occult practice, objects and literature
F. Spoken curses by parents (Gen 9:24-25) by third parties.
How can we be free?
a. Don’t be afraid!
God’s power is limited and all demonic spirits will submit to Jesus. (1 John 4:4; Rom 8:13; Ps 27:1)
b. Recognizes the specific root of the bondage (which is sin, wounds, generational, spoken curse, self-imposed curses and occult practice) and give it to Jesus. Eph 5:11
What about the dark areas of your life? Satan governs the darkness.
Every unconfessed sin is an area of darkness. We must be transparent to experience God’s deliverance. In fact, we will only be set free to the degree that we are willing to be transparent.
c. Ask God for forgiveness for all these sins
d. Renounce the sin- not only confessing it but removing it from your life. (2Cor. 4:2)
e. Cry out to God with a repentant heart and believe that God’s Spirit will come to your temple and you will experience His deliverance. (Ps 118:10-20, James 4:7)
